Cafe Nubia: Reviews & Ratings
This was my first time visiting Cafe Nubia. I enjoyed the music and ambiance. I ordered the Rasta Pasta. It does have a spicy taste. But it was seasoned to my liking. Initially, I ordered the strawberry daiquiri but it tasted like a slush with alcohol poured on top. I sent it back and ordered the Nubian margarita and it was a better choice. As for the service, the waitress was very accommodating but she missed some things like my friend ordered an appetizer and she didn't take her main order. In her words, she assumed she was only eating the appetizer. I tasted a piece of Steak my friend ordered and it had no taste. No seasoning or smoke/grill taste. I drove about 40 minutes to try this restaurant. The manager and ambiance were nice but I don't know if it's worth the drive.
Sunday brunch was plentiful with tasty options from 11-4 which is a generous time if you don’t stay close. The bottomless mimosas I give them a 1/10 not strong at all. I sat on the patio and inside. The vibes are definitely there. All in all i rate them 7.5/10 the women’s bathroom had no tissue in any of the stalls and there were no napkins to dry your hands.
We went to this place for the first time for my Mom's birthday..we were not disappointed! The menu theme is Caribbean/Mediterranean based so the spices are different to me the palate but overall the food is good! For special events, if you bring in desserts there is a $25 service fee. We double checked on this because we brought cupcakes and we were able to have them with no charge. I'm not sure if this was for larger parties(we only had 6) or just the house rules but 15% gratuity is added to your check as well as alcohol tax if you consume. The vibe was excellent! The lounge singer did her THANG and was very engaging with the audience. They also have hookah here, although the place is not smokey at all, still has a clean air environment. Our waitress Amarie was phenomenal! She was like the cousin at the cookout or family reunions that make you feel comfortable and like you belong! We gave her a well deserved tip and some cupcakes from our party. Well definitely be going back just for the vibe and maybe to try the hookah..
The oxtails were great. However, the margarita was a ripoff. The cup was literally only half full, and when I asked the waitress why the cup was only half way full, the waitress advised that is the normal portion size. That is a ripoff, especially when the margarita was $14. The cup should have been full for that price. The server’s name was Alexa. It took a very long time for the service to attend us after we sat down. We waited almost 20 minutes before a waitress finally approach us. That was because a Man in a green shirt had to ask his the servers to attend us. This review is be written by someone who has been working in the hospitality industry for the last 20 years. Having the experience really makes me feel like this place needs to work on the staff and the quality of service. I see myself returning here I will just go right down the street.
I had the pleasure of visiting this establishment last Thursday for ladies night, and although it was a bit slow, the bartender Brittany truly made the experience unforgettable! She crafted a “Crush on You” drink that was simply delicious—perfectly balancing sweet and savory flavors. Brittany's amazing personality and attentive service made me and my family feel right at home. I was so impressed that I returned, making sure to come back when she was working! It’s such a joy to find a fun, safe atmosphere combined with top-notch customer service. This place has definitely become my go-to spot!
Nubia was a great experience ! Very attentive staff once you open the door. Our waitress Roni was very hospitable and attentive to our needs. The buffet food was great, and that’s coming from a picky person. Make sure you add the bottomless mimosa to your experience , definitely worth it! 10/10!
I stopped in for calamari, a cocktail, and a single shot, and walked out $52 lighter before tip. Be aware: no matter what you order, they automatically tack on an 18% gratuity, even if it’s just a drink or two. The place wasn’t crowded, which was a plus. The calamari? Actually quite good, crispy, well seasoned, and the highlight of the evening. I had made a reservation, but upon arrival I was informed that due to a private event inside, I’d be seated outdoors. That meant sharing my meal and drinks with the local fly population, which definitely wasn’t part of the plan. To add to the charm, the food arrived with no silverware. The server was pleasant enough, and I appreciated that one of the owners stopped by to greet us, which gave me the perfect opportunity to finally ask for utensils. On the bright side, the DJ was solid and kept the vibe alive. Overall, while the experience had its hiccups, I might consider giving it another try, perhaps on a weekend when the energy (and hopefully the service) is a bit more on point.
This restaurant has a great atmosphere. Well decorated with a good air conditioner. Are food was good for the most part except my dish that was completely unseasoned. The other three people had fabulous entrees. The manager quickly corrected the situation to make sure I was happy. Unfortunately we couldn't taste dessert because everything was frozen. We ordered dessert about 7:00 p.m. this was on a wednesday. Overall we would come here again and recommend it. And shout out to Brittany for being an awesome server and Bar person.
